WHAT A LET DOWN

We went over to mount rushmore this afternoon. there had to be 30 thousand or more people packed from the town of keystone, which is at the bottom of the mountain to the top. there were cars parked all over the place and people were walking 2 miles up the hill to watch the fireworks. we road up the hill on the bikes and went by the monument but could not pull in. we drove back around to keystone and parked the bikes in town. there is a motel called the presidential view up on a hill in town and we had a great view of the heads to watch the fireworks. we met several people while we were waiting for it to get dark enough to start.

then it started to get windy and i swear the clouds came down to ground level. YES IT RAINED TOO. we thought they were going to cancel it but as the time drew closer it started to clear up a little. they started them on time, but from our vantage point the mountain was still covered with clouds. all we could see was little puffs of red, blue, green and white lights from the top of the mountain. there was a bunch of pi__ed off people, if you know what i mean. about 3/4 of the way through the show the moon was out but not over the monument. anyway, we left cause we couldn't see anything.

one of the couples that we talked to told us that they are going to perform a major blast on the crazy horse monument tomorrow at 11am. our plan is to go visit the mount rushmore site tomorrow and also be at the crazy horse site for the blast.

there is a ton of stuff to see in this area, so we will most likely take in some other sites as well.
